Julie Tapp here, Contributing Member of Society.
I have a private consulting practice doing program evaluation, writing, and other fun work for good people.
I have over thirty years of professional experience in non-profit leadership, program development, and evaluation research. Professionals whom I greatly admire have said that I am someone with high standards of professionalism, performance, and integrity. My clients love working with me, and I am grateful for their continued support.
Prior to starting my own business in 2016, I served as Executive Vice President of the Irvine Public SchoolsFoundation (IPSF), where I was responsible for oversight of programs, community fundraising, and communications to meet the organization's strategic goals. Before that esteemed position, I served as a Senior Consultant for Evalcorp, and for a number of years, was Chief Program Officer at Team Kids, where innovative, positive youth development programs are run in partnership with law enforcement and other community nonprofits in public schools. For many years, I was a leading member of the Irvine Prevention Coalition.
I received my Ph.D. in Public Policy and Program Evaluation from Vanderbilt University. Soon afterwards, my family moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where I held a Research Fellow position at Stellenbosch University, teaching graduate classes and consulting on numerous program evaluation projects.
I'm also a former Peace Corps volunteer, having served in Niger for two years. Today I'm a member of the Orange County CA Peace Corps Association.
Otherwise, my interests include hiking, laughing, travel, photography, yoga, ecstatic dance, singing, caregiving, and helping people. I've dedicated much of my time and talent in recent years community organizing in support of progressive political candidates and volunteering for causes that I cannot ignore, like mass species extinction, global climate emergency, a woman's right to bodily autonomy, and human rights across the plant. Try as I might at times - for I am tired and want to do creative things for fun, - I am unable to take a seat while others take a stand.
